Shorten antibiotic-associated diarrhea
As a yeast, its cell wall and metabolism are not destroyed by commonly used antibacterials, so it can persist in the gut lumen during an antimicrobial course, adsorb pathogens, and stimulate mucin. What is felt usually sits on fewer watery stools and less tenesmus; before the course ends, the lumen still needs this fungal barrier holding.
Shorten acute watery diarrhea
Saccharomyces boulardii releases proteases that directly degrade some bacterial toxins and reduce the intestinal epithelium's response to toxin. Antibiotic-associated diarrhea, traveler's diarrhea, and C. difficile-related discomfort are the most studied settings; watery-stool counts often rise or fall within days.
How to take it?
After continued use, reassess by how you feel and whether you still need it.
How oftenUsually fine to use daily; adjust to personal need.
