Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745

This Saccharomyces boulardii strain secretes proteases that break down bacterial toxins. It can remain in the lumen during an antimicrobial course and is used for acute watery diarrhea.

Primary

Shorten acute watery diarrhea

It releases proteases that directly cut toxins such as those of Clostridioides difficile and Vibrio cholerae, reducing secretory watery diarrhea from the intestinal epithelium. Acute gastroenteritis is the setting with the thickest evidence. Once toxins are cut, secretory watery diarrhea loses its drive, and frequency often falls clearly within a few days.

Primary

Protects the gut during an antimicrobial course

As a yeast it can coexist with antimicrobials in the lumen. When travel upsets the gut, watery-diarrhea attack rate and duration are also watched. In people who fear the gut collapsing as soon as antimicrobials start, what is felt is mostly whether formed stools return within a few days and whether tenesmus eases.
