Eases plaque psoriasis

It binds the vitamin D receptor on keratinocytes, changes proliferation and differentiation genes, and pulls an overly fast epidermal turnover cycle back. Plaque-psoriasis trials use plaque area, scale, and erythema scales as endpoints; thinning of plaques is usually assessed only after several continuous weeks.

Lessens plaque redness and swelling

The vitamin D receptor also sits on skin immune cells; local cytokine signals can be turned down, and erythema and burning recede with the plaques. This is a topical pharmacologic identity; the use setting is local treatment under dermatologic guidance, and what is felt mostly sits in less scale and a less prickly touch.
