Sodium Iodide

Sodium iodide likewise supplies iodide; dose by micrograms of iodine. The use is the same as potassium iodide: raw material for thyroxine synthesis, not disinfectant tincture of iodine.

Making thyroid hormone

Sodium iodide is a source of iodine. Follicles organify iodine into T4/T3. This form supplies iodide or seaweed iodine; shortage causes goiter, and seaweed content is highly unstable.
