Helps sulfite metabolism
Ligands such as glycine hold molybdenum, with a claim that it uses amino-acid channels. Molybdenum must still be released to form the molybdenum cofactor before it can oxidize sulfite to sulfate. If the amino acid is not named, it is only a generic chelate. Sulfur amino acids produce sulfite every day; this enzyme path needs molybdenum in place before it can finish.
Supports purine breakdown
Xanthine oxidase and aldehyde oxidase are both molybdenum enzymes. Amino-acid-chelated molybdenum appears in mineral blends that chelate molybdenum with other trace elements. A multi-mineral chelate tablet wraps molybdenum in amino-acid ligands; enzyme work is still purine breakdown and aldehyde detoxification.
How to take it?
Self-starting high doses is not recommended for general wellness.
How oftenA usual diet already supplies enough molybdenum; follow the product label.
What to watch
Cautions
Molybdenum deficiency is rare; kidney disease: avoid self high doses.
High doses may affect copper metabolism.
Interactions
- Public monographs do not list a clear drug conflict; people on medicines should still ask a clinician first
· High doses may cause stomach discomfort
· High long-term intake may cause gout-like joint problems or copper deficiency.
Long-term dependenceNot addictive; high long-term doses may disrupt copper metabolism.
