Lactase breakdown that eases dairy bloating
After surviving gastric acid and bile salts, it colonizes the small intestine and secretes lactase that hydrolyzes lactose into monosaccharides, reducing bloating, abdominal pain, and gas after milk or cheese. Human trials commonly use it for lactose-digestion discomfort and everyday upper-GI comfort; several weeks of use make post-meal ease easier to notice. Once lactose is split into simple sugars, the colon has less substrate for gas, so flatulence tends to fall as well.
Acid-tolerant colonization that keeps a small-intestine advantage
Tolerance of gastric acid and bile is relatively high, so live cells more readily reach the small intestine, occupy space, and restrain expansion of putrefactive bacteria. When everyday gut function is unsteady and post-meal gas is high, it can pull the small-intestinal community back toward acid-producing lactobacilli. Once small-intestinal occupancy is stable, rumbling and a gassy feeling between meals more readily settle.
