Why supplement?
Maintains bones and teeth
Calcium is the main mineral of bone and teeth, and with vitamin D it supports mineralization. The diet supplies it from dairy, tofu, and dark leafy vegetables. Supplements should be counted in milligrams of elemental calcium, distinguishing carbonate, citrate, and other salts. Put the use on maintaining bone and tooth structure.
Supports muscle and nerve function
Calcium ions take part in muscle contraction, nerve conduction, and vascular-tone regulation—not only 'bone filling.' Single elemental doses should not be too high and are better split. The label is elemental calcium, not salt weight. Put the use on supporting normal neuromuscular function.
How to take it
A single serving is usually best kept to about 500 mg of elemental calcium.
How oftenPrefer food first and make up any gap from the product label; the usual adult total upper limit is 2,500–2,000 mg/day, depending on age.
